We decided to give all four of the new Blumags models a try. They came in a neat IP67 plastic case, and the first thing we noticed was how compact the magnets are. They are impressively strong for their weight. Also, the designers have definitely done something right with the geometry of the release mechanism. Even the strongest of them, Willy 800 kg, is quite easily released by a diver. Our divers were really enthusiastic after testing them out in the water. Stainless housing, externally mounted release handle, and the awesome possibility to have multiple mooring points on top... You will definitely find these in my shop in the near future!
One of the most exciting parts of what we do is learning about all the different use cases that our clients find for our magnets, and it continues to fascinate us to explore how this technology can be such a natural fit into industries of all kinds. One application – perhaps lesser-known than others - is as mooring points for boats.
We provide supreme corrosion protection by encapsulating the magnetic core in a Ni-Cu-Ni coating, and a strong and thick epoxy layer on top of that. In addition, the housing is made of stainless steel, ideal for underwater use.
At the heart of our products is the world's most powerful magnetic material - Neodymium. Outperforming all other commercially available materials on magnetic flux and coercivity, this material is the obvious choice when holding force matters.
Any piece of equipment can be firmly mounted directly onto the magnet. The eyenut assembly can be easily removed to provide a clearance hole for your own bolt – and should you need more, the Willy series has two additional holes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the magnets be shipped by air?
Absolutely, and multiple times too. Our magnets conform strictly with IATA's packing instruction 953, and are NOT classified as dangerous goods when shipped in original tool cases.

"If the maximum field strength observed at a distance of 2.1 m (7 ft) is less than 0.159 A/m (0.002 gauss) or there is no significant compass deflection (less than 0.5 degree), the article is not restricted as a magnetized material."
How is the holding force rating defined?
Every single magnet is tested at the factory to ensure that the holding force is well above the rating. This is measured by pulling the magnet perpendicularly from a 30mm thick, clean mild steel plate.
Out in real life, the holding force will be affected by steel thickness, steel quality, and gap between magnet and steel which may be caused by rust or uneven steel surfaces.
What is the lateral holding force?
There is no definite answer to this, because it depends on the friction coefficient between the magnet and surface. Important factors are paint, marine growth, corrosion, wet or dry. As a rule of thumb, you can assume 20-30% of the normal holding force rating.
Will the magnets demagnetize?
Our magnets don't demagnetize, as long as you keep the magnets below 100 degrees Celsius (212 Fahrenheit) and follow the instructions in the user manual.
