Magnets are incredibly useful tools in underwater and industrial environments — but their real‑world performance depends on the exact conditions you’re working in. Plate thickness, air gap, surface quality, and load direction all influence holding force and safety margins. Until now, estimating these effects often meant guesswork or overly conservative choices.
That changes today.
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Magnet Calculator — an online tool designed to help you choose the right magnet for your job, based on actual measurement data from Blumags products.
Why We Built the Magnet Calculator
To reduce the uncertainties, we at Blumags have carried out systematic testing of our handheld magnets — Flipper 100, Flipper 250, Willy 500, and Willy 800 — measuring how their strength varies with plate thickness and airgap. The Magnet Calculator is the practical result of that work — a tool that takes your input and gives you data‑backed predictions so you can plan with confidence.

How the Magnet Calculator Helps You
The calculator lets you enter the following key parameters:
Applied load
Load angle
Air gap
Plate thickness
Friction coefficient
Using the measurement data of our magnets, combined with simple trigonometry and physics, it returns the estimated holding force and safety factor for each magnet.
The safety factor shows how securely a magnet can hold your load — letting you compare magnets and pick one with a sufficient margin for your job.
